Zambezi Queen Collection

Moving along the banks of the great Chobe River, Zambezi Queen is a 5-star, 42-metre long luxury houseboat offering unparalleled sophistication in one of the most remote locations on the planet. Best of all, as a guest on the vessel, you can enjoy a truly unique and adventurous river safari holiday while still being surrounded by complete comfort and elegance.
Each of the 14 suites on the vessel features air-conditioning and your own private balcony, where you can enjoy unobstructed views of the Chobe River and African landscape beyond. Wake up to the sight of an elephant drinking from the river, or watch a fish eagle take flight – all from the comfort of your own luxurious bed.
Unlike a land-based lodge, Zambezi Queen navigates roughly 25km of the Chobe River, allowing you to explore different vantage points and enjoy unparalleled game viewing. In fact, the banks of the Chobe River boast one of the densest populations of elephant on the African continent. The Chobe National Park on one side of the river is also home to a large number of buffalo, leopard and lion, along with a variety of antelope and abundant birdlife.
Built in the early 1990s, Zambezi Queen was first designed to carry guests on extended journeys from Katima Mulilo down the Chobe and Zambezi rivers and back. However, the sheer size of the vessel made navigating difficult, and shortly after her inception, Zambezi Queen ended up moored along the river bank, eventually becoming a floating hotel to visitors to the Caprivi Region of Namibia. In 2014, Zambezi Queen was grouped with her three Chobe Princesses to form the Zambezi Queen Collection, a stable of luxury houseboats that capture the true spirit and adventure of Africa.
To complete your river safari why not stay in a River Lodge. Located on the Namibian side of the Chobe River, the award winning Ichingo Chobe River Lodge features eight safari tents set beneath a riverine canopy. Surrounded by breathtaking scenery, abundant wildlife, bird life and ideal fishing conditions, Ichingo Chobe River Lodge is the perfect setting for a tranquil safari getaway.

African Chobe River Safari

The Zambezi Queen is a floating boutique hotel offering game viewing in 5-star opulence along the banks of the Chobe National Park, boasting one of the densest populations of wildlife on the African continent. The Zambezi Queen departs and returns to the same point, navigating roughly 25km of the Chobe River weather permitting.
Experience the thrill of an African safari from your own private suite aboard a luxurious 45m boat on Botswana and Namibia’s great Chobe River. There can be few natural wonders as synonymous with Africa’s raw wilderness as this stretch of untamed waters. The Chobe River divides Botswana’s Chobe National Park from Namibia’s Caprivi Strip and its exotic banks boast one of the densest populations of wildlife on the African continent.
This National Park is teeming with life and sprawls across some 11,000km² of lush African bush. It is home to the largest population of elephants in the world, currently estimated at about 120,000. Along with the elephants, prides of lion, leopard, huge herds of buffalo and numerous species of antelope can be seen on the river banks, with hippos and crocodiles in the waters alongside. It is on this great expanse of water that an adventure unlike any other awaits.
Zambezi Queen is unlike any other houseboat on this stretch of water, providing a sophisticated, elegant experience that has retained the essence of all that is uniquely African. Close your eyes and imagine a burning orange sun melting into the horizon. The wind is in your hair and the last rays of sun are on your face. On the river’s edge a family of elephants playfully shower each other with water and dust. The call of a fish eagle breaks the solitude. Whether dining on the top level while watching the wildlife gather at the waters at dusk, game viewing from one of the private boats, or attempting to land your first tiger fish, Zambezi Queen’s professional team will be on hand to meet your every need.
The three sisterships: Chobe Princesses is like being on your very own houseboat. With only a small number of guests per boat you’ll be able to completely relax in an intimate river safari experience. The entire boat can also be booked exclusively, giving you your very own private villa on the water.
